The Living Horse Museum

Founded in 1982 by Yves Bienaimé, this private museum became not only the most beautiful and the biggest museum of its kind but also a truly internationally renowned institution. It offers an 800 meter covered circuit and attracts thousands of visitors each year. It is a must for all horse riders and persons who love art and culture.

A LIVING and EDUCATIONAL museum with :

  • its 30 boarders (horses, ponies, donkeys) that the visitor discovers on entering, in their stalls or evolving during their training
  • its 31 rooms of cultural and educational expositions dedicated to the art of Horse riding with more than a thousand sculptures, paintings and drawings
  • its daily commented educational dressage presentations.

 The Equestrian Shows:

On the first Sunday of every month from February to November the Museum presents an hour long equestrian show under the magnificent stone dome converted into an equestrian theatre.
Several factors come into play to enchant the spectator: The beauty and dressage of the horses, the harnesses, the music, the lightning, the speed of sequences (each presentation only lasts 2 to 5 minutes) and at last the emotion brought by the arena being so close.

In December and January, children and parents can come and spend an afternoon of complicity at the museum. "Christmas, the Horse and the Child" (a new equestrian tale every year) will carry children and grown ups to the Realm of Wonders where dreams come true. Under the Grand Stables Dome the museum’s riders, dressed in costumes borrowed from the heroes of our traditional tales, make the horse, ridden or free, kneel, and lie down. At the end of the show Father Christmas comes and enchants the children.

Prestigious Evenings (equestrian show followed by a gala dinner) , as well as 30 minute shows,  on request , can be organised on the day.
